S.G. Motors Services - Bridgnorth are all about quality work for competitive prices.
A family run business with morals and integrity.
Having started all those years back as a 15 year old, I attended Highlands college in Jersey (CI) and studied motor vehicle engineering, through this I gained my City & Guilds mechanical and electrical engineering qualification.
Then came that big step into the working world of mechanics, where I worked for an auto electrician and learned the art of starter motor & alternator overhaul. I was also lucky enough to learn motor vehicle & marine electrics.
After learning my way round the electrical side of vehicles I decided to find out how the mechanical side worked. So, I then went onto work for an Austin Rover/Skoda garage where I gained vast amounts of skills and knowledge from a 50 year serving, factory trained, Jaguar technician. This is where I was educated in the ethics and morals of a great motor vehicle technician and this set me up in great stead for my future.
I moved to the UK from Jersey at 23 years old to work for a Nissan/Suzuki dealership, where I gained even more knowledge, skills and master technician status through extensive factory training.
Diagnosing faults within the vehicles electrical and mechanical systems was my specialty and teaching others gave me much pleasure. When I realised this, that is when I decided to put the spanners to one side and became a Service Advisor & Warranty Administrator for a BMW dealer where I underwent mechanical and system training.
After this I was then offered a role as a workshop manager, overseeing twenty BMW technicians. It was within this role where I found a new mentoring side to my skills coming through in my work. I have been a workshop manager for Mazda/Audi brands within the same dealer group, then was promoted to After-sales Manager within the groups Honda division, running the service department and parts department. Being the After-sales Manager gave me a broader understanding of what customers expect from a garage.
This sparked a new motivation within me to provide that very service that customers expect! Providing them with the up to date knowledge, the exceptional quality of work at the fraction of main dealerships costs. I put my plan on the back burner for a while as i needed to concentrate on running a successful dealership. Although, when I was made redundant by the company I was working for this made me all the more determined to focus my energy on offering the complete all round garage service from dealer level diagnostic to free advice, free safety checks and first class customer service.
